Finding Musicians/Gigs

Whether you’re looking for musicians or you’re a musician looking for gigs, it’s easy to look to CraigsList or Facebook or something like that.  I love CraigsList. I’ve been able to furnish most of my house through CraigsList.  However, I can’t say I’ve gotten any really GOOD gigs from them.  So, I did my research and I found some other websites that offer musicians or gigs.  Check ‘em out!

1. BandMix

Bandmix is a completely free service that allows both musicians and bands to place ads on their website.  You can narrow your search to exactly what you’re looking for.  Perfect!

2. Musician Audition

Musician Audition is another free website for you to place ads on.  Whether you’re looking for a gig or looking for a musician, Musician Audition has got you covered!

3. Musicians in Your City

Musicians in your city is more cut and dry.  If you’re looking for a musician, that’s the place to go to.  When you narrow your results, you find a list of exactly what you’re looking for.

If you have another website you use, let me know!

Social Networking

Musicians, let’s face it. Social networking is probably one of the most important aspects of our career.  Social networking allows us to connect with fans, promote upcoming shows, and promote the gear we love.  If our fans love what we post, they reblog it, retweet it, share it, etc.  Which will help us gain more fans and followers and up our online reputation.  However, social networking can be a hard thing to master.  Especially when they make it harder for us.

I’ve found this great article named: 4 Reasons Why Twitter is Better than Facebook for Music Marketing

In this article, Nic Robertson talks about all of the ways that Facebook tries to rob you just so you can get more fans.  I agree with a lot of what Nic has to say and I believe it to be a good read.  Read for yourself and discover why I personally prefer Twitter over Facebook.
